Research Interests:
International trade, multilateral institutions, economic development and policy reforms in India. In a number of papers I have examined the implications of the agreement signed in 1994 concluding the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations. In another series of papers I critically look at the proposals to use trade policy instruments to enforce environmental and labour standards as well as human rights. I have contributed to the research and debate in India and elsewhere on India's economic reforms.
Current Research:
International trade, development, economic linkages among trade, environment and labour standards, stabilization, structural adjustment and economic reform in developing countries with particular reference to India, regional integration in South Asia.

Teaching Interests:
International Trade as well as Economic Development at the graduate level. In addition: seminars for juniors and seniors on topics on Trade, Development and the Environment. Focus is on the analytical foundations in terms of economic theory and formal models of positive and normative (policy) analysis.
